History:
Jacalyn was living in a home with a couple dozen other cats.  The person who lived there was taking in stray cats with the best of intentions but sterilizing the cats was not on the to-do list.  When this very elderly lady passed away, the family was finally faced with the reality of what was going on.  They chose to deal with it by simply releasing the cats outside.  Naturally, this was upsetting for people living in the neighbourhood. Lucky for Jacalyn, she was trapped by a person working towards relocating and sterilizing as many of the cats as possible.  When she was brought to the veterinary clinic to be spayed, the vet determined Jacalyn had given birth as little as twenty-four hours previously.  Even though the five kittens had gone almost twenty-four hours without their mom, they were located and reunited.  Because of hostilities in the neighbourhood, the little family was taken in by a PAW foster home. 

Personality:
When Jacalyn was trapped, it was thought she was likely unsocialized to humans, like most of the other cats from that home.  But not so! She was completely tame. She is a calm, quiet little cat with an unassuming and affectionate personality.  She goes about her business, but loves it when it's her turn for attention from her foster mom.  She is great with other cats and gets along fine with the cat-friendly resident (large) dog.  She enjoys treats and canned food, loves to play and uses her tall scratching post to her best advantage -- usually to watch the goings-on in the yard.  For nap-time, she prefers to sleep on the bed and even better if she can curl up on her foster mom's pyjamas.  Sometimes you will find her in her very own bed on the couch.  You must look closely to see the true beauty of a black cat.  It is difficult to capture their essence in a photo.  In person, you will see that Jacalyn has a beautiful sleek, glossy coat and that she is elegant and lady-like.

In February, 2010, Jacalyn underwent a full dental.  Her mouth is in a very healthy condition.
