What does PAW do for the cats? What does PAW do? Lethbridge People for Animal Welfare {PAW} Society is (very simply) a cat rescue and adoption program. Incoming cats are accepted based on their need and availability of foster homes. The PAW Society is proud to state that we support and provide cage-free environments. There are many different elements to the PAW system, so please read below to find out more.

What does PAW do for the cats? All incoming cats are checked by a Veterinarian if they have any obvious or ongoing medical needs, vaccinated, and then, depending on the cat's health and age at this point, spayed or neutered. If a kitten is adopted, the spay or neuter will be done when they are approximately 5 months old. This surgery is included in the adoption fee, therefore all follow-up kitten surgeries must be booked by PAW. Basically, we take the cats in and supply the treatments needed so that they can become healthy, wonderful pets (PAW provides cage-free environments). We find permanent, loving homes for the cats.

Can I adopt a cat? Persons 20 years of age and older are eligible to adopt a cat. People who are renting a home must have the landlord's permission. More info about adopting a cat from PAW (including prices and locations) can be found here.

What is a 'Foster home'? A Foster Home is where the cat will stay, temporarily, before they find their permanent family. Fostering is all done by volunteers, and is an excellent way to help cats in need. For extended info about Fostering, please click here.
