Samoa
Color: Snowshoe (mixed breed? purebred?)
Age: Born approx. May 2009
Gender: Neutered Male
History:
This sweet boy had a home at some point but for reasons unknown, he became homeless. He was already neutered when he showed up, very hungry, in the yard of a north-side Lethbridge resident. Luckily, his rescuer has a long history of being a friend to cats. She advertised but no one came forward to claim him. When she invited him into her home, he gladly accepted. He is a very clean cat, she said, well versed with using a litter box and scratching post. However, his elderly caretaker knew this little rescue, a "housecat", needed something more permanent that what she could offer. Estimated by a vet to be about six years of age, he has now been health-checked, vaccinated, and has had a dental.
Personality:
This is what one cat site says about Snowshoe cats: They are said to be affectionate, friendly, and intelligent. They can be talkative, but have a lighter voice than their Siamese ancestors.
To that, his rescuer added, "He's calm and cool and his inside voice is more of a squeak than a meow". At night, he slept at the end of her bed where he no doubt felt completely safe. When she sat in her chair, he would relax beside her on one side, her own cat on the other side. He got along fine with her resident cat for the couple of months he shared the home. Samoa likes to play with toys, anything that wiggles and moves, and especially ones filled with catnip.
Another cat site has this to say about Snowshoe cats: Choose a Snowshoe if you will enjoy spending time with and interacting with your cat. A Snowshoe likes company and would prefer not to be home alone all day. If you work long hours, he will appreciate having a feline or canine friend.
