Thumbelina
Color: DSH Brown/Gold Tabby
Age: Born Approx. March, 2002
Gender: Spayed Female
History:
Thumbelina is the matriarch of a feral family of four adult cats and a litter of
juvenile kittens that PAW rescued in the fall of 2005. They had been living in a
old unused garage and backyard of a rental property. They had survived by getting the odd handout from a renter and from food they foraged in a large open field next door to them. There was no resident caregiver who could have provided for them long term as the property was slated for demolition within the year. We felt we had no option but to bring them to the Cat Compassion Centre and there they began the process of learning to trust their human friends (the kittens all found adoptive homes). The volunteers loved this incredible family. We have learned so much about how a cat family communicates and socializes with each other. They all got along great with the many cats that came to live temporarily at the center, probably because they have always lived as a multiple cat family. Thumbelina is a beautiful and compact girl, all the more cute
with her big many-toed paws.

Personality:
When the Compassion Centre closed in the summer of 2008, Thumbelina went to live in a foster home - a new experience for her. She had gotten quite used to being petted, groomed and fussed over at the centre and she has continued to make great progress in her foster home. She was exceptionally easy to integrate into her foster home which she shares with several cats. She is very respectful of other cats and for those cats that may be a little too interested in her, she manages to stay safely under the radar. She had to have most of her teeth removed in August, 2008. She recovered very well but now prefers to eat mostly canned food. That may change over time. She is a very happy little cat. When she scoots and slides around the house in one of her playful frenzies, it is very entertaining to watch those big feet! Her foster mom hopes that someone will see what a charming and delightful little lady she really is. She will be a wonderful little companion for the right person.
