Monty

ADOPTED
Monty
Color: DLH White with tabby patches
Age: Born May 12, 2005
Gender: Neutered Male
History:
Monty was adopted from PAW as a young kitten in 2005 and then returned a couple of years later. A puppy had entered Monty's life which likely contributed to a urinary tract episode. A boisterous puppy can be hard on a cat if its behaviour goes unchecked (i.e. chasing). Cats need safe zones when a new puppy is introduced to the household. Bladder issues and many other health problems are caused by stress and/or a poor quality diet. Unresolved stress can cause a cat to limit its water intake thus making its bladder susceptible to various issues. Cats fed an exclusively dry food diet need to drink large amounts of water to avoid chronic dehydration. Getting a cat to do that isn't always easy. Canned food is a great way to increase a cat's water intake as it contains 75% water which makes it a more natural diet for a cat. Monty has continued to have a healthy bladder since his return in 2007.
Personality:
Monty's foster mom has delighted in discovering the "full" Monty! He is an extraordinarily sweet boy! He loves to gaze adoringly at his people and does not hesitate to ask for attention. He is definitely a morning-person as he very much enjoys being cuddled in a warm, steamy bathroom and then to sit on the counter and watch his foster mom's hair and make-up routine. He has a good appetite (maybe a little too good as he is pushing 20 pounds). He could definitely benefit from being portion-fed (but that's hard to do in his current multi-cat foster home). His foster mom looks forward to Monty finding a new guardian that can give him the attention he craves and deserves. He likes to play and leap about with a string toy. You would be welcome to foster Monty before deciding if you want to adopt him. He also appreciates a bit of help with keeping his beautiful coat groomed (normal with most long-haired cats). Please help us give Monty a second chance!
"Life is good!"
"And you said I'd never fit in this box...."
