PAW --> Available Adult Cats --> "TJ"![]()
Name: TJ Color: Medium Haired, Brown & Gold Tabby Age: Born Approx. July, 2006 Gender: Neutered Male. History: On a very cold November day in 2006, someone reported that they had observed an adult cat going in and out of a commercial dumpster. When they looked in the dumpster, they saw three twelve week old kittens, hiding, cold and scared. The three probably followed their mom in to the container and then were unable to get out because they were too little to jump high enough. The rescue then began with one person climbing into the dumpster with a flashlight. One by one the kittens were caught, kenneled and handed out to someone who was helping. Unfortunately, the mother cat was not found. It took nearly a year, but after persistent trapping in the area, the cat believed to be the mother was caught and spayed and returned to the area. She can now live the rest of her life without having to raise endless litters of kittens. Personality: The three kittens were put in to foster homes to begin their socialization process as it was clear that these little ones had not had any experience with humans (well, not any experience that was good!). TJ's brother and sister made very quick progress. TJ took a couple of months longer before he decided to trust his human foster mom. To tame a little cat like TJ, it is important to keep them in a smaller space, like a bedroom, so the kitten cannot hide easily or run very far. Bedrooms are a great place to socialize a cat because, at night, they can safely observe their human and it helps them to become comfortable with being in close proximity to their caregiver. TJ now sleeps right on top of his foster mom! He has decided to love her and thoroughly enjoys (even insists on) his cuddle times. In fact, he pushes others out of the way to get his mom all to himself. He is smart and interactive, LOVES treats and loves to play. At the same time, he is very connected to the other felines in his foster home and so we would like to see him in an adoptive home where he can be loved both by a human family and a feline friend or two.
