PAW --> Available Adult Cats --> "JoJo"

Name: JoJo Color: Smokey Black Age: Born Approx. June 2005 Gender: Neutered Male History: In early 2008, PAW received a call from a vet clinic. Jojo had been brought in by his owner in severe distress due to a urinary blockage. His owner had requested he be euthanized. As Jojo was originally a PAW cat, we did not want this to be his fate. The vet was confident that Jojo could be unblocked and make a full recovery. Jojo then officially became a PAW cat once again and his medical needs were immediately attended to. He was hospitalized for a few days and recovered nicely. Bladder problems, if not attended to, can lead to a blockage which means the cat is unable to urinate. This is a life threatening medical emergency and requires immediate attention. A blocked cat can die within hours. Blockages happen as a result of crystals forming in the bladder which eventually block the urethra. It is a condition that builds up over time and has various causes such as food allergies, low quality diet, not enough water intake and environmental stresses. It is not unusual for de-clawed cats to have urinary problems. Being de-clawed can cause deep emotional distress. Personality: Cats without claws feel very vulnerable around other cats (for obvious reasons). Claws are extremely important to cats and PAW believes that de-clawing should be illegal, just like it is in many countries around the world. When we get a de-clawed cat in the system, we consistently find they do best in single cat households with no access to the outdoors. Jojo is a sweet little gentleman. He is not a large cat underneath that beautiful long coat. His undercoat is white, his extremities are black and his body is more greyish. He is active, curious, playful and smart. He loves to watch birds from the window. When Jojo came back to PAW, he was not eating canned food but has now started to really look forward to his twice daily meals of it. Canned food is an excellent way for cats to get more water in their diet. He also enjoys drinking out of a dripping tap. He likes to be combed and he loves to play with a catnip bag. Definitely a cat that would go in our "little buddy" category!
