History: 
Jacalyn was living in a home with a couple dozen other cats.  The person who lived 
there was a very elderly woman and as with most of these "collector" cases, the 
stray cats were taken with the best of intentions but sterilizing the cats was not 
on the to-do list.  When the lady passed away, the family was finally faced with 
the reality of their mother's living condition.  The family dealt with it by kicking 
all the cats outside.  The problem then became that of the neighbours'.  Naturally, 
this created much tension in the neighbourhood.  One neighbour threatened to poison 
the cats.  Jacalyn was trapped by a person who was working on relocating and sterilizing 
as many of these cats as possible.  When Jacalyn was brought to the veterinary clinic to 
be spayed, the vet determined she had given birth as little as twenty-four hours 
previously.  Even though the five kittens had gone almost twenty-four hours without 
their mom, they were located and then reunited.  Because of the life-threatening 
circumstances in the neighbourhood, the little family was taken in by a PAW foster 
home.  



Personality: 
When Jacalyn was trapped, it was thought she was likely unsocialized to humans just 
like most of the other cats that were living in that home.  But that was not the case.  
She was completely tame.  She is a quiet little cat with an unassuming and affectionate 
personality.  She goes about her business, but loves it when she gets attention from 
her foster mom.  She is great with other cats and gets along fine with the cat-friendly 
resident (large) dog.  She loves to play and uses her tall scratching post to her best 
advantage.  For nap-time, she usually prefers to sleep on the bed and even better 
if she can curl up on her foster mom's pyjamas.  Sometimes you will find her in her 
very own bed on the couch.  You must look closely to see the true beauty of a black 
cat.  It is difficult to capture their essence in a photo.  In person, you will see 
that Jacalyn has a beautiful sleek, glossy coat and that she is elegant and lady-like.
