PAW --> Available Adult Cats --> "Cameo"![]()
Name: Cameo Color: DSH Tabby with golden/rusty highlights Age: Born Approx. March, 2001 Gender: Spayed Female History: We are just guessing at her age, but it's probably quite accurate. People say she had been in the neighbourhood for three years (we heard about her in August, 2005). Apparently, in the time she lived in that area, she'd had at least three litters of kittens. Some of them were taken to the city animal shelter, others had unknown endings. Had a neighbour not intervened, Cameo would have gone on to have endless litters of kittens. In October, 2005, she was trapped along with her four spring babies. All were unsocialized to humans, although they had been coming into a cat friendly yard for food. All have now been spayed and neutered and we are in the process of socializing them and finding homes for them. Cameo is in a small, glassed-in room at the Cat Compassion Centre, where she can see out and also be visited by people. Personality: Cameo's socialization will take a little longer than that of her babies'. She is very cute and we think has a very dear little soul. Unsocialized cats establish a deep bond with their caregiver. It is difficult for cats like this to be at an adoption centre because of the many different people interacting with them. However, she is making progress. She will reach out and gently rest her paw on the hand of one of our volunteers. When a cat in her situation shows just a tiny bit of trust like that, it is a blissful moment! Cameo needs a home. It will be a very rewarding experience for her adopter. It would be best to have her in a smaller room with no unreachable places. Spend lots of time in the room, just being there with her. After awhile, she will start to anticipate and enjoy the human contact. In the evenings, when she thinks no one is watching her, she plays with her toys and her daughter (who currently shares the room), Tokara. ![]()
