PAW --> Available Adult Cats --> "Asha"![]()
Name: Asha Color: DSH Solid Grey Age: Born Approx. Oct. 1, 2006 Gender: Spayed Female. History: She is a playful and spunky little cat now, but not when she first came to the attention of NOKA (an animal advocacy group in Lethbridge). NOKA received a voicemail on their spay/neuter assistance line from someone who said they found a cat in a box and that it was bleeding. When NOKA returned the call, the person had already taken the cat to the city pound. As it wasn't likely she would receive medical attention other than be taken to a vet to be euthanized, NOKA made arrangements to have her sprung. Asha was immediately taken to a clinic where it was discovered she was in her second trimester and had a uterine infection. It is unlikely she would have survived without an emergency spay-abort. PAW agreed to help Asha find her permanent home. Personality: After Asha recovered, she came to the Compassion Centre. There was no way she was staying in one of those little rooms! She wanted out! Even though she is a small cat, she had no problem claiming her own space amongst all the other bigger cats. She is playful and full of kitten-like energy. She is talkative too and once she has your attention, she pours on the sweetness! She also likes to be carried around. Please remember that she came from the outdoors and so she knows very well what’s on the other side of an outside door. It’s not difficult to keep a cat safely indoors but their guardians must always be mindful around open doorways. So, like most recently rescued cats, Asha is in the process of learning to be indoors only -- it's the only way to truly keep your cat safe. There are many intolerant people out there who trap cats like it is a sport, not to mention other dangers like vehicles and predators. You only have to look at the PAW Society's Lost and Found book to see how many free roaming cats go missing every day.
