Kyree

Kyree
Color: DSH Brown/Gold/Rust Tabby
Age: Born approx. July 9, 2008
Gender: Spayed Female
History:
In early January, 2009 (and we all remember how cold that was!), this little cat appeared to be trying to scale a large pile of ploughed snow on the side of a ramp to a busy thoroughfare in west Lethbridge. This caught the attention of a couple of people driving by and realizing there were no houses in close range, they stopped and picked her up. It would be odd indeed if a young cat like this wandered away from its home in the middle of winter but convinced that she must be some one's pet, they advertised in all the appropriate places. There was no response. Within a few days of being rescued, it was noticed she was scratching her head and neck and her ears were very red. She did not have ear mites. We suspected it may be food-related so a hypoallergenic food was offered. The itchiness and redness went away within a day or two. So, we are quite certain that Kyree is allergic to chicken. This is not uncommon in the cat world; in fact, just like with humans, feline food allergies seems to be on the increase. Thankfully, there are several chicken-free diets available these days. Kyree is on Medi-Cal Hypoallergenic, both canned and dry, which is readily available at most veterinary clinics. Kyree was spayed shortly after she was rescued but she did go through a heat cycle previous to her surgery.
Personality:
How many ways to say "adorable"? Her foster family (same couple that rescued her) say that Kyree is an absolute sweetheart. They would have considered keeping her but there is a likelihood they will be moving and already have two cats who will be going with them. Kyree is always at the door to greet her foster parents with her distinctive little "chirp". She also does very well with the two resident cats. She is very kitten-like, loves to cuddle but is always up for a play session too. She has a good appetite and we think her change of diet has really agreed with her. Kyree is a happy little cat and will want to share your bed.
